Nathan Ryland Piano Studio welcomes pre-college students and adults of all skill levels. Nathan Ryland, a native of Richardson, earned his Master’s Degree from University of North Texas, and he has won numerous domestic and international piano competitions. He enjoys putting his playing and teaching experience to work for his students, and whether you have a young child who would benefit from piano lessons, or are an adult amateur who wants to learn a challenging piano concerto, please get in touch.
No audition is necessary, and lessons will always proceed at your pace. Nathan is more than happy to answer your specific questions and pursue your goals at the piano, and lessons are individualized for each student.
About Nathan Ryland
Nathan, a lifelong pianist, earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and performance certificates in piano performance at UNT. He won the Los Angeles International Liszt Competition, Brevard Music Center Piano Competition, and Texas State International Piano Competition, and he often works as a soloist and collaborative pianist.
In addition to his work on the piano, Nathan is also an accomplished composer and arranger of music for the piano and other settings - you can purchase his arrangement online.

Nathan Ryland has significant experience teaching children, teens and adults. Every age group has its own challenges, and no two students are alike.
Piano Lessons For Kids in Addison, TX
Whether you have a five year old who would like to learn the piano, or a middle schooler or high schooler who needs lessons, please get in touch. With young kids, we will assess readiness for lessons first of all - can they concentrate on the lesson for at least 30 minutes, do they have the strength to play the piano, and will they be able to practice for 15 minute increments at home? If so, we can jump right in.
We’ll learn proper technique at the piano, hand position, foundational notes like C, F, and G, and start to proceed to steps and skips. We will start playing fun, child-appropriate tunes on the piano as soon as possible, and we will continue to more advanced concepts like hands-together, sharps, flats, and chords as quickly as your child is ready.
With middle schoolers and high schoolers, I often build on pre-existing musical knowledge. We can do an initial consultation to assess your child’s current level, and start filling in gaps and breaking through to the next level. I work with my students to learn their preferences, and I choose repertoire that is both challenging and rewarding for the student.
When students are particularly motivated, we can prepare music and programs that will suit the pianist for competitions, audition tapes, and even college auditions.

From beginners to experienced amateurs, I enjoy working with adult piano students in my studio. We can pursue your unique goals, whether they be sight reading, improving your speed, helping you write your own music, participate in worship, or some other musical outlet. I also enjoy answering the many questions that adult piano students bring, and we can dive deeply into concepts like music theory, interpretation, composition, and more.
